Five Effective Ways to Tame Your Temper

Image
"If you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape a hundred days of sorrow."  It is wisely said that an enraged person himself is the primary victim of his anger.  Anger, a normal and even healthy emotion may sometimes get destructive when it becomes intractable. Frequent and extreme anger may adversely affect one's health as it may foment hyper tention, anxiety etc and increase the risk of heart diseases and stroke. It also takes a toll on one's relationships as well because it wipes out trust and security.  According to Bhagavad Gita, anger leads to clouding of judgement resulting deprivation of intellect followed by the destruction of the self. It apparently states the pertinence of staying calm at vexing situations. Here are five fail-safe and practical ways to keep the lid on your temper-tantrums. 1. Walk-out off the peeving situations When you start feeling annoyed by a specific person, situation, thought or by a memory, leave that place immedi...

A Brief Introduction to 'The Diary of a Young Girl'

Image
'The Diary of a Young Girl' is a captivating account of journal entries recorded by the famous teen diarist and holocaust victim Annelies Marie Frank, popularly known as Anne Frank. The diary dates from 1942-44 which covers her 25 months in hiding with her family in a shelter which they named as the 'Secret Annex'. The secret diary was retrieved and kept by Miep Gies, a confidante of the Franks after their arrest. Later, she revest it to Anne's father Mr. Otto Frank, the sole survivor of the family who published it in 1947. The translation of the original Dutch book into English elevated Ann to the position of a cultural icon. Anne Frank received the red checkered diary on her 13th birthday in 1942. It was a gift from her parents which she herself had picked out from a bookshop. But she started actual writing only two days after her birthday, hoping she would be able to confide everything to the diary. She counted the diary as her best friend and called it 'Kitt...

DEGREES OF COMPARISON

Image
Comparison   is a feature in the  morphology  or  syntax   of some languages, whereby  adjectives   and  adverbs   are  inflected  or modified to indicate the relative degree of the property defined by the adjective or adverb. The usual degrees of comparison are the Positive , which simply denotes a property (as with the English   words   big   and   fully ); the   Comparative , which indicates greater degree (as   bigger   and more fully ); and the   Superlative , which indicates greatest degree (as   biggest   and   most fully ).   Some languages have forms indicating a very large degree of a particular quality (called Elative in  Semitic linguistics). Questioning, Collaborative and Co-Operative Learning

Image
In the modern world, the field of education is also exposed to a lot of changes. As a result the role of the teacher in a classroom has changed to that of a facilitator. Contemporary classrooms demand novel teaching techniques other than the outdated ones like chalk-talk and lecturing. Narration, description, exposition, explanation, review, group discussion, dramatization, role-play, brainstorming, buzz session, questioning, debate, workshop, co-operative learning, symposium, seminar, collaborative learning etc are some instances for umpteen techniques we shall give a try. Here, I am trying to give a short note on some of them. My concerned topics are :- Questioning method Collaborative method Co-Operative method Questioning method "Questioning by the teacher which does not lead to asking of questions by students is unsatisfactory. If the students are thinking, really trying to solve problems of issue, they will have questions of their own." (Strayer) Questioning is on...
